Manor notched
their second point of the season with a well deserved
draw against a very useful Sawbo side. Despite having
to reshuffle the starting line up due to injury and
holidays Manor still managed to create the better chances
in the opening 15mins and two snap shots from stand
in striker Andy Wilson had the Sawbo keeper scrambling
across his line to keep the ball out, however some neat
inter passing between Connolly and Pamplin eventually
saw Pamplin whip in a fierce cross from the bye line
and Andy Wilson rise above the defenders to head the
ball home and put the Manor 1-0 up. The lead never lasted
long and Sawbo pulled themselves back into the game
with two gifted goals, the first saw some indecision
between Young and Scales at the back, which let the
Sawbo striker nip in to put the game level, and it was
young again who let his marker slip past him to put
the away side 2-1 up at the break. Despite being a goal
behind Manor refused to lie down and pushed forward
in the hope of getting something from the game, chances
were few and far between for both teams but it was Manor
that was applying the more serious pressure, with time
running out Midford, Efejuku and Barratt came on for
Wilson, Pamplin and Scales and it was the three subs
that contributed to the equaliser, Chris Barratt rose
at the back to send a thumping header out of defence
Toma Efejuku chested the ball down to Johnny Quinn who
fed a delightful through ball to Gordon Midford who
flicked the ball up with his right foot turned and drove
a cracking half volley into the bottom corner of the
net from some thirty yards to put the Manor back on
level terms. There was still time for the Manor to win
the game and when Efejuku smashed another thirty yard
drive goal bound it looked like Manor had secured all
the points, but the ball hit the underside of the bar
and bounced out. Another tidy performance from the Manor,
with things improving with every game 3 points won’t
be long in coming.
