A magnificent
win for Manor which was long overdue, was rightly celebrated
in style by both players and fans alike. Manor fielding
yet another changed side from last Saturday started
brightly and began dominating the midfield area causing
Stansted to remain on the back foot for long periods
of the first half. The Manor breakthrough came when
Midford whipped in a fierce cross from the right which
Pamplin rose to meet and sent a powerful header into
the top corner beyond the keeper. On the odd occasion
when Stansted broke through, they found Manor keeper
Carl Prince in outstanding form to deny them a goal.
New signing on the night 17 year old Fola Orilonishe,
was causing the home side massive headaches as he blended
into the midfield with Quinn, Hudson, and Midford, these
four were outstanding for Manor all night, playing some
quality football and then breaking up any threat the
home side looked like making. Despite their possession
Manor lead just 1-0 at the break, but the second wasn’t
long in arriving as Bradley Knapman scored straight
from the start of the half, as he raced on to a Johnny
Quinn through ball and hit a shot which the keeper could
only parry, and Knapman netted from the rebound. Chances
came and went and it was another slick pass from Quinn
which split the Stansted defence for David Jenkins to
run onto and fire a thirty yard drive beyond the keeper
and into the bottom corner of the net for Manor’s
third. Pamplin then added a fourth when he was brought
down in the box, he got up to convert the penalty himself.
A great night for the Manor with everyone playing their
part, but it was Lee Hudson who got M.O.M. for a truly
outstanding midfield performance. A special mention
for David Pugh who done a great job as kit man and physio
on the night, well appreciated by all.
