What a week for
the Manor, 0-0 at Ilford & then a great away win
at Romford, things are steadily coming together, and
finally results that their football is worthy of. A
quality performance from the Manor boys was topped only
by the sheer class of keeper Carl Prince, after a lively
start by Manor, Romford were soon on the back foot and
stayed that way for long periods of the half. Pamplin
looking lively up front was soon forcing the home sides
keeper into action with a couple of efforts that were
well saved, more chances fell to Manor but Forde, Barratt
and Midford were unable to convert them. On the rare
occasion that Romford made any progress into the Manor
box, David Snazel made sure it came to nothing. Romford
were hitting the long hopeful ball into the box and
on one occasion it paid dividends as a Manor defender
was adjudged to have pushed a Boro player, the penalty
was struck Alan Shearer style but Manor keeper Prince
was more that up to the task as he pushed the ball up
onto the bar to keep the scores level, his second penalty
save in as many games. Manor soon recovered composure
and with 10mins of the half remaining, Delroy Forde
struck a sublime free kick from 25yds which hit the
underside of the bar and dropped to the feet of Chris
Barratt who duly smashed the ball into the back of the
net to give Manor a well deserved lead. The second half
saw more attacking from the home side but Keeper Prince
was in outstanding form and stopped 4 certain goals
with top draw saves, despite this Manor had their chances
to increase their lead, but the game ended with just
the solitary goal, enough to give Manor a well deserved
3 points and a run of six games without defeat, keeping
four clean sheets along the way. Manor’s M.O.M.
went to Danny Midford, absolute different class in midfield,
with Carl Prince a close second.
