Eton Manor FC played their last game of the season
at Barkingside. The Manor conceded the home advantage
and switched the game to Barkingside. The game was played
in typical ESL good spirit with the Manor taking most
of the possession. In the first half saw Asa Pamplin
causing the Barkingside defence all sorts of problems.
On the 5th minute Sammy Marks breaking clear down the
right put a fabulous cross to Johnny Quinn who sent
the ball just wide of the post. 10 minutes later Chris
Barrett at the heart of the Manors defence flicked a
high ball towards Danny Midford who looped the ball
wide to Tony Marsh who charged at the Barkingside defence
and was brought down just on the edge of the penalty
area. Johnny Quinn stepped up and crashed the ball forcing
the Barkingside keeper to make a fabulous save. In the
18th minute saw Barkingside retake a throw in down the
left hand side and Paul Carr scoring his 19th Goal of
the season.
The second half The Manor kept up the pressure but
simply could not find the net. The closest was in the
73rd minute when Asa Pamplin broke free down the middle
and found himself on a one on one with the Barkingside
keeper who pawed the ball away to safety. Both teams
cancelled themselves out and the final result finished
1-0 to Barkingside.
The Manor having lost the game still in their typical
style celebrated a fantastic season, finishing 9th in
the table which is their best position since the 1988/89
season. The Manor MOM was given to Mr Consistent David
Snazel.
