| On
the back of two straight wins Eton Manor found it hard
going against a strong and physical Concord Side. With
the wind in their faces first half struggled to find
their rhythm. Concord took the initiative and made a
few good chances early in the game, with Heale looking
to extend his goal tally as the leagues top marksman
tried to take advantage of a few gaps in The Manor defence.
In the 35th minute saw some good build up play by Concord
and got their reward when the ball fell to Wastell just
outside the Manor penalty area on the half volley knocked
it passed the outstretched hands of Carl Prince. Manor
had only few chances in the first half and went in 0-1
down.
The second half saw the Manor in more determined mood.
In the 48th minute Lee Whitelock playing a nice one
two with Johnny Quinn who sent Sammy Marks tearing down
the wing who put a perfectly weighted cross on to the
head of Lewis Passfield who steered the ball into the
back of the net. It was now game on with the score level
at 1-1 The Manor started to pile on the pressure and
some good work from Sammy McCarthy who was causing the
Concord defence all sorts of problems nearly put the
Braves in front with a superb header which just crept
over the bar. Concord who are not a side to be intimidated
started to regain their control on the game and in the
53rd minute Danny Greaves split open the Manor defence
to go 1-2 up. The Manor now stepping it up a gear started
to press hard for an equaliser when Danny Midford tangled
with Heale and the referee giving Midford his second
yellow of the game was sent off. Not deterred by the
sending off The Manor started to attack and came close
on three occasions each effort just off target. On the
84th minute and against the run of play Heale putting
the game into no doubt scored Concords third.
Credit to Concord they came to frustrate the Manor
and used their physical presence to take all 3 points.
Good displays by Barrett, Snazel and Tony Marsh. Lewis
Passfield was named Manor's MOM for his work rate and
dogged determination throughout the game.
