Played in the bitter cold and freezing conditions,
Concord started brightly and after only 5 minutes tested
the Manor keeper Carl Prince. Both sides set their stool
out and decided to play a passing game, with Manor hitting
Concord on the break 3 times in a super 5 minute spell.
Manor's keeper Prince took a 15th minute goal kick which
was held up in the driving wind the ball fell to Chris
Barrett who tried to clear but hit the ball into a wall
of players and the ball fell into the path of Danny
Heale who duly obliged making it 1-0 to Concord. The
goal then set Manor alight and they started to control
the midfield area. A Concorde player then elbowed Johnny
Quinn and was shown a straight red card. Now Manor had
the bit between their teeth and started to really get
on top of the game and were rewarded with a deserved
leveller when Quinn's shot hit the bar and Lewis Passfield
duly slotted home. Shortly after Asa Pamplin then had
a one and one with the keeper who made a superb save.
On the stroke of half time a long ball forward caught
Snazel and Barrett napping and Concord scored their
second and went in at the break 2-1 up.
The second half was nothing like the first and Concord
with one man short playing now against the wind resorted
to a long ball game and it worked catching Manor out
on a few occasions. Manor also had chances when Fola
went close twice and Passfield had a couple of half
decent shots at goal. Another long ball from Concord
seemingly going out of play was kept in by Manor's Carl
Prince only for him to pass straight to the ever impressive
Danny Heale, who made it 3-1. Manor then made two changes
bringing on skipper Gary Scales after a 10 week lay
off and 14 year old Lewis Jones for the last 15 minutes.
An impressive win by Concord today against a rejuvenated
Manor side. Concord continue their run for Championship
honours this season, however the Manor can rightly feel
proud of their performance today.
