Eton Manor were
formed in 1901 by rich and influential families of the
likes of Barings, Villiers and Lord Chelsea for the
benefit of bringing sport to the door and underprivileged
youth of the East End of London. Various clubhouses
used in the early years and eventually the sportsground
at Hackney Marshes known as "The Wilderness"
was used, this started a period of great success in
the thirties for the club's football, cricket and rugby
sides. The success continued into the forties, fifties
and sixties with many famous players coming from the
club, Alf Ramsey and Len Wills are just two to have
played for the Manor in past. In the 1960's the sports
separated and went their own way, and so started long
period of traveling for the Manor's football team using
a number of stadiums along the way. After playing in
the Greater London League, the club moved to the Essex
Senior League in 1975 and have stayed with the competition
ever since.
The start of the 2003/04 season sees a mixture of old
and new faces at the club, in both managerial and playing
capacity. The club hopes that this fresh injection of
bodies and much needed new sponsors ( K Sports &
Another Level Scaffolding ) will help put the Manor
back in contention for the long overdue success they
deserve and a place they can finally call "HOME"
