1st Half
In this cup game, Lewis Jones scored his first goal
for the reserves within three minutes. We had a very
young side out today and they played exceptionally well
against an experienced Old Parmiterians side. We were
well on top in the first half and went in winning 1
– 0 at half time.
2nd Half
Early in the second half we conceded a goal when a
mix up from our centre backs allowed Old Parms to equalise
1 – 1. We then went down to ten men and had to
adjust our formation. Neil Day went up front for us
and did a fantastic job. With only ten men we managed
to hold on and almost won the game when Neil Day had
a shot in the dying minutes only for their keeper to
pull off a great save. With 90 minutes gone and still
1 – 1 it looked like the game would go into extra
time when Old Parms attacked down our left and crossed
into the box and score in the 93rd minute. Eton Manor’s
keeper, Paul Buck, pulled off some fine saves and earned
the Man of the Match tag.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Today showed spirit and character and I thought we
were very unlucky to lose so late in the game. With
the younger players gaining some vital experience, we
can only go forward for the rest of the season. We should
learn from this game that Team Spirit counts for a lot
in football.
