Essex Senior League

Saturday 29th December 2007- Kick Off 3pm

The Manor welcomes the players, officials & fans from Sawbridgeworth Town to Tilbury today. The Manor boosted by their mid-week fight back against Mauritius Sports, despite going down by 2-0 the Manor managed to steal all 3 points with an emphatic come-back by winning 3-2.

The Manor making a few changes to the Boxing Day line-up, Andy Hall returns between the sticks after a 3 match suspension, Skipper Steve Willis carrying a muscle strain is named on the Subs bench and makes way for new player Barry Brotherton making his first appearance for the Manor. Other changes, sees regular defender Courtney Mclean on the injury list along with Liam Allen who make way for Marq Odojukan and Danny Dobson both getting the nod in the starting line-up.

Sawbo win the toss and decide to change ends gaining the wind advantage. It's Sawbo who show the early initiative, breaking down the Manor right sending a accurate pass across goal onto the head of an advancing Sawbo player, Stand-in Skipper Andy Hall reacting quickly to his right to pull off a fine save to keep the score 0-0.

10 minutes gone sees Sawbo score from a controversial decision. The Manor looked to have secured a free kick 10 yards out of the Manor area. A Sawbo player looked to have fouled with a high kick, as the Manor prepare to take the free kick the Match official deciding to give the kick to Sawbo? Confusion led to the Manor keeper out of his box in preparation to take the free-kick, Sawbridgeworth reacting quickly, Adam Sontag lobs the stranded Manor keeper to make the score 1-0 to the visitors!

The Manor battle to contain the long balls assisted with a strong wind. Bradley Nelson involved in a crunching tackle comes off worse as he is carried from the field and is replaced by Bradley Brotherton.

Liam Mulcare using his pace to open up the Sawbo defense, fires at goal from 20 yards out, just over the bar.

The Manor back four looking solid, Barry Brotherton playing his debut for the Manor, looks competent on the ball, showing silky skills as he brings the ball to safety.

Late in the first period and The Manor get a corner, the ball driven in by Liam Mulcare to the feet of Bradley Brotherton whose shot is blocked off the line, the ball falls to Chris Barratt 'who makes no mistake to level the score 1-1.

The second period and the Manor now have the wind advantage. The ball driven forward and out for a Manor corner, the ball sent into the box by Mulcare to the feet of Anton Stephenson, who lines the ball up for Bradley Brotherton to smash home, 2-1 to the Manor.

A few minutes later, Danny Dobson screams down the right, looks up and sends a sublime ball to the back post, Liam Mulcare smashes the ball towards goal, the ball blocked but only as far as Kunle Adeoye who nudges the ball home, 3-1.

Sawbo attack down the Manor left, the ball sent long and into the path of Sontag whose shot looks to be dipping into the goal, Andy Hall having to make a spectacular save to push the ball over the bar.

Marq Odojukan with a delightful touch to gain yardage down the right, looks up before sending a 30 yard pass to Anton Stephenson at the back post, Stephenson keeping his composer as he sets his shot up to place the ball into the net, 4-1.

75th minute and Odojukan plays a delightful one two with the energetic Danny Dobson, Odojukan using his pace to break free from the chasing defenders, sends a delightful pass to Stephenson and from 6 yards crushes the ball into the net leaving the Swabo keeper no chance, 5-1.

Steve Willis on for the exhausted Marq Odojukan who's contribution and energy earned him Man of the Match.

As the clock ticks down the Manor absorbing some late pressure, the Braves back line staying strong. Jason Fox heads the ball to safety, Liam Mulcare down the left, the ball out for a throw in the Sawbo half, the Ball sent down the left to the by-line, Chris Barratt sends in a pin-point pass across goal, over the head of two defenders and the keeper and onto the waiting head of Kunle Adeoye 'who Gently nods the ball into the net to make the final score 6-1 to the Manor.

Not a classic in the first half, the Manor were forced to work hard against a strong wind. Some notable performances today, Adeoye and Stephenson proving once again that they are a lethal combination up front, both worked hard and took their chances well. The Brotherton "brothers" looked very competent on the ball, both high contributors to the result. Liam Mulcare continues to improve at this level, high energy work rate and contributed in 3 of the 6 goals scored today, Danny Dobson had a good game, let his football do the talking and despite being on the receiving end of some late tackles, without any fuss simple got on with the job of causing problems for Sawbo down the right hand-side.

Man of the Match however, goes to Marq Odojukan, proved a brick wall in defense and created so much down the flanks, showed great appetite & attitude and despite his lack of match fitness gave 100%.
