The Manor welcomes
Enfield (1893) to Tilbury today. The Manor before today's
game on a 9 game unbeaten run and righlty so 'are high
in confidence.

The Manor kick off with the wind to their backs, in
first few minutes of the game, Anton Stephenson down
the right, squares the ball into the box to Kunle Adeoye
'with his back to goal tries an over-head kick, which
screams just over the bar.

The Manor settling into the game the better of the two
sides, Junior Konadu sweeps down the left hand side,
cuts into the box and lays a great ball to the far post,
Bradley Nelson nods the ball just wide of the post.

It's now all Manor in the early exchanges, Stephenson
the supplier once again, to the feet of Adeoye, who
back heels the ball into the path of Nelson who fires
just off target.

Enfield's Sherwin Stanley comes close, the ball driven
in from the right 'lands to the feet of Stanley who
fires straight into the hands of the Manor keeper Andy
Hall, playing his first game for the Manor.

33 minutes and Adeoye on the end of a great ball on
the edge of the Enfield box, as he wriggles clear of
two defenders with just the keeper to beat, Adeoye looks
to go around the keeper and is then clumsily flattened
by the advancing Steve Wright, shouts for a Penalty
from the Manor side who were in no doubt! The Match
Official needing to check with his assistant referee
before giving a throw-in?

The Manor continue to put pressure on the Enfield defence,
Jamie Wallace a constant source of motivation in the
middle of the park drives the Manor forward with a superb
pass down the right to Jason Fox, Fox lays a perfect
ball into the Enfield Box, to the feet of Neil Barratt
who slices the ball just past the post.

The Manor finish the first period with a flurry of chances,
Courtney Mclean staying calm under pressure in defence,
starts another Manor move, Mclean to Stephenson who
users his pace to whip down the right hand side, squares
the ball into Lee Smith who side steps over the ball
to leave it into the path of Nelson who crushes the
ball just over the bar.

The second period and Enfield step it up a gear, now
in the 49th minute and the Manor give Enfield a needless
free kick from 25 yards out , the ball driven wide to
the left then quickly knocked to the back post and onto
the head of Sherwin Stanley 'who nods the ball home
from close range. 1-0 to Enfield!

The Manor defence now under pressure, Steve Willis and
his back line of Courtney Mclean, Jason Fox made to
work hard. Neil Barratt falls awkwardly and is replaced
by Chris Barratt, also Junior Konadu replaced by another
Manor debutant, Bradley Walsh playing his first game
for the Braves, straight into the action with a crunching
tackle which sees the ball fly off his shins and into
the path of Adeoye, the Enfield keeper quick off his
line as he goes low to sweep it off the feet of the
advancing Manor striker.

The Manor keeper Andy Hall not having too much to do
makes a competent save from Enfield's Paul Oshin.
Enfield now slowing things down to almost walking pace,
with the visiting players going down injured every few
minutes, this taking the sting out of the Manor's game.

The ball being held up in midfield and Enfield continue
to kill the game off, kicking the ball out of the stadium
at every opportunity turning a potentially good game
into a dull one!

85th minute and the Manor get caught on the counter,
Andy Hall doing well to prevent a certain goal, the
ball rebounds off the Manor keeper into the path of
3 advancing Enfield players, the ball knocked to the
back post to the feet of Enfield Substitute Neil Hughes
who had the simple task of knocking the ball into the
net from 5 yards out. The over enthusiastic goal celebration
quickly followed by more Enfield players going down
all over the park needing treatment, a further 5 minutes
wasted before the game was allowed to restart!

The Match official allowing an extra 8 minutes for the
blatant time wasting by Enfield, but wasn't enough for
the Manor to get back onto the game. Final Score 2-0
to the visitors.

The Manor playing some great football in the first half,
but simply failed to take their opportunities, the Manor
desperately unlucky not to have been awarded a first
half penalty, which may have put a different slant on
the game.
