The FA Vase Second Qualifying Round

Saturday 22nd September 2007- Kick Off 3pm

Soon evident that the game would see a contrast in styles ‘with Saffron Walden opting for the more direct approach and The Manor trying to pass their way into the Walden's half. Both sides looking very competitive with no real chances until the 25th minute when Junior Konadu threaded a superb ball to Anton Stephenson 'who finished well to put Manor one up.

Honours remained even until half time. After the break Walden came at the Manor with all guns blazing and rattled the Manor crossbar, but were unable to force home the loose ball. The Manor defended superbly and was able to double their lead in the 55th Minute, when a curling free kick from the evergreen Jamie Wallace was crashed home by Anton Stephenson. The Manor now went into overdrive with Junior Konadu volleying just over the bar and a quick free kick from the dangerous Stephenson going just wide of the post.

In the 70th minute, from a corner kick, saw a well timed flick-on from Manor Skipper 'Steve Willis and was efficiently tucked away with aplomb by Stephenson for The Manor's third and Stephenson's hat-trick.

The Manor using all three subs, but still they kept surging forward and with Kunle Adeoye and Wallace scorning one on ones with the Walden 'keeper.

The Manor ran out worthy winners with a superb all round performance. Special praise too for the match officials, their handling and contribution to a good FA Vase Cup match.

First Team Manager Graham Chester said “We do not need to fear other sides as long as we play up to this standard, I couldn't have asked for anymore from my lads, the result was excellent and the performance was superb"
