Essex Senior League

Saturday 12th January 2008 - Kick Off 3pm

The Manor welcomes Barking to Chad’s Road today. The Braves on the back of their midweek disappointment against Redbridge in the Quarter Finals of the FansFocus.Com Essex Senior Cup ‘will be looking to strengthen their position in the League today.

The Manor making a few changes to the line up that faced Redbridge mid week. In comes Danny Dobson, Chris Barratt and making his debut for the Manor the recently acquired midfielder from Sawbridgeworth "Jordan Childs"
Barking come close in the opening 10 minutes when Courtney Mclean slips on the muddy surface whichthen allows a Barking attack through the last line of defence, Chris Barratt chases back to make a superb challenge from behind to clear the danger.

The Manor having much possession ‘but not probing the Barking defence enough. Adeoye and Stephenson linking up well only for the attack to fizzle out.

Barking gaining some mileage down the Manor left. The Manor losing possession in their own half, the ball swung across goal, into the path of Steve Slade ‘who finds himself in a one on one situation with Andy Hall, Slade slides the ball passed the outstretched hands of the Manor keeper.

Barking's confidence now starting to grow as they attack the Manor goal down the left, the ball driven to the byline and whipped into the Manor area, Andy Hall quick to spot the danger dashers out to clear the ball only to concede a free kick on the edge of the box.

Chris Barratt on the end of a rebound slices his shot into the arms of the barking keeper.

The Manor awarded a free kick on the edge of the Barking penalty area, the ball powered in and deflects off the Barking wall, Barking the quicker to react send the ball down the left, Barking now on the edge of the Manor box unleash a blistering effort which smashes the underside of the Manor bar and eventually cleared by a panic stricken Manor defence.

Barking once more finding room down the Manor left, the ball whipped into the edge of the Manor area, Steve Slade once again making his presence felt by scoring his and Barking’s second of the game, 2-0 to the visitors.

Manor Corner, lashed in by Liam Mulcare to the near post, Kunle Adeoye users his knee to slice the ball goal bound, deflected onto a barking leg and into the net, 2-1.

Last remaining minutes of the first period, Steve Willis in the Barking box, smashes the ball towards goal, the Barking keeper somehow managing to scoop the ball away, great chance for the Manor to draw level just before the break.

The second period and the Manor responding to Graham Chester and his coaching staff words of encouragement!! The Manor now taking the game to Barking and come close to scoring when Danny Dobson goes route one, into the Barking box and slides the ball into the path of Liam Mulcare ‘whose shot just sneaks wide of the post.

Dobson once more opening up Barking down the right, gets almost to the byline before sending a superb pass across goal, Anton Stephenson looking certain to head the ball home, however, a Barking defender just beating Stephenson to the ball accidentally smashes the ball into the top corner of his own net, making it 2-2.

Anton Stephenson in determined mood as he goes solo towards the Barking goal, Stephenson now 25 yards from goal 'fires in a powerful right footed effort which looks to be dipping into the goal, ‘but instead falls centimetres over the Barking crossbar.

The Manor bench making some tactical changes, Bradley Brotherton on for the hard working Neil Barratt & Loren Dallo on for Jordan Childs.
Danny Dobson again down the right, links well with Stephenson ‘who shouts to send him long to the byline, Stephenson whips in a pinpoint pass to the feet of Brotherton, who needed to reposition himself before launching the ball low and hard into the bottom right hand-side of the goal, 3-2 to the Manor, a real gutsy comeback.

Another Substitute, the creative mystro "Danny Dobson off for the industrious Marq Odojunken.

As the clock ticks down it’s the Manor who look more likely to score, the ball collected by Steve Willis in the Manor half, Willis bringing the ball to the half way line spots Liam Mulcare down the left, Mulcare slides the ball to Loren Dallo, who threads his way into the box and slices the ball home making the final score 4-2 to the Manor.

The Manor once again showing that they have real grit and character to come back from a two goal deficit to win comfortably by a two goal margin.

Some notable performances today, especially in the second half. Courtney Mclean looks to have finally shaken off his injury problems that has plagued him for so long 'with a solid performance, good also to see Lee Smith back to his battling best and Bradley Brotherton ‘orchestrating the midfield with such effectiveness, however, Man of the Match goes to "Danny Dobson" who created so much for the Manor today, involved in most of the build up play, showed wiliness to work for the team and demonstrated an unselfish attitude.
