Saturday 24th March 2007- Kick Off 3pm

The Manor once again forced into fielding another changed side today against Barking, Graham Chester currently being plagued by injuries sees him without key players, Tony Marsh, Ray Coker, David Annobil, Tony Leary, Kenny Addi, Jamie Barry, Paul Smyth & Darren Smyth all ruled out, also influential defender Devon Saunders & creative midfielder Lee Smith both not available for selection today, instead the Manor count on recent signings to try & grind out a result against a well seasoned Barking team.

The first 15 minutes of the game saw Barking pin the Manor back into their own half without looking too threatening. The Manor defence led by Skipper Steve Reading look to be withstanding the Barking strike threat of Wayne Vaughan & Paul Carr.

Barking come close 17 minutes into the game, Vaughan collecting the ball on the edge of the Manor area, tries to place his shot, the Manor keeper down to his right to make a comfortable save.

Barking take their 6th corner after 20 minutes, the ball driven in high to the back post, Charlie Tarten chests the ball down and away to safety.

24th minute of the game and Barking attack deep in the Manor half, showing great awareness of each other, manage to penetrate the Manor defence running towards goal & into the box, the Referee noticing the slightest of contacts & doesn't hesitate in pointing to the spot for a Barking penalty. Wayne Vaughan steps up and connects well with the ball, Manors keeper Chamberlin down to his right to make a great save. still 0-0.

Manor keeper in action again the ball whipped in from the right, Chamberlin smothers ball well before Paul Carr had a chance to line up his shot.

Barking working really hard, the Manor defence being pulled out of place by a determined Barking team, however, full credit to the Manor who appear to be grinding out a performance and not allowing the Barking chance to settle on the ball.

33 minutes and Barking take their 9th Corner of the game, the ball swung in deep, Miko doing well to glance the ball away just as Vaughan and Carr were coming in from the back post.

The Manor continue to be pinned back into their own half, when they do attack can't seem to hold onto possession, Barking playing the ball wide which appears to be stretching the Manor defence out of position in turn leaving big gaps in the Manor defence which Barking do well to exploit.

Barking come close, Barking's Jamie Murat sending a superb pass into the path of Paul Carr, 10 yards from goal, picks his spot, Ibraham Knoate does well to push the ball out for another corner.

The Manor nearly taking the lead on the stroke of half time and against the run of play, saw the Manor's Daniel Duku smash the ball wide from close range!

Second Period and the Manor strike first, Manors Bradley Nelson playing his first game for the Manor, latched onto a great ball from Lucien down the right, Nelson looked up for a split second before launching the ball just over the bar, warning sign to Barking that the Manor were not going to lay down!

First change for the Manor, Chris Barratt on for Tim Oduniyi.

Barking beating the offside trap, Ex Manor man Bradley Jones sending the ball towards the Manor goal, Jon Higgs, does well to get ahead of the Manor defence, one touch too many as Chamberlin comes our to sweep the ball away.

62nd minute and the Manor get a well deserved break, Alex Read from the centre of the park sends a great ball over the top of the advancing Barking defence, Bradley Nelson timing his run to perfection latches onto the ball and runs towards goal with only the keeper to beat, Nelson noticing the Barking keeper was off his line chipped the ball giving Tony Tucker no chance to recover his position. 1-0 to the Manor.

64th minute and Barking level the score on the counter attack, the ball driven forward when Barking's Keeper Tony Tucker comes out of his area to clear up a Manor attack, the ball driven down the right, the ball swung in quickly to the edge of the area and Wayne Vaughan does well to pick his spot and into the net 1-1.

The Manor much more lively in the second period, Alex Read and Bradley Nelson connecting well to create a chance, Tucker up high to push the ball out for a corner.

The Manor looking for the win bring on Chris Hammond for the hard working Robert Boyce, Hammond straight into the action gets a yellow for his first challenge!

Vaughan sending the ball long but dealt with proficiently by Skipper Steve Reading who slides across goal to send the ball out for a Corner.

With the last few minutes remaining things begin to hot up with either side looking able to grab a late winner. The Manor now looking organised and comfortable dealing with the long ball game which Barking seem to have adopted in the closing minutes.

The Manor continue to keep the ball on the ground and try to play neat one two football and nearly pays off as Hammond speeds off towards goal but is crowded off the ball by a well organised Barking defence.

The Game finishing 1-1, Barking could have and should have killed the game off in the first period, however, full credit to the Manor men who did well to dig in and get a well deserved point from the game.

The Manor clearly missing key players can take heart that new players coming into the squad once fully fit could present the Manor Management with a selection problem when the full squad returns. Some good solid defending today allowed the Manor to gain in confidence as the game went on.
