The Manor travel
to Canvey and were welcomed by their hosts Concord Rangers.
With the Holiday home as the back drop and the sun shining
a good afternoons football was expected.

Concord kick
off but it wasn't long before the Manor recapture the
ball. Danny Sabaroche running towards goal and shoots
from 25 yards, keeper down low to his left to force
a competent save.

Seconds later
the ball driven in from the right, Ray Coker heads the
ball to the far post leaving Danny Sabaroche the final
job to nudge it in the goal. 1-0 to the Manor.

Two minutes later
Tashwell Thompson receiving the ball from Chrissy Hammond
down the right hand side. Thompson with the ball at
his feet and from a tight angle plants the ball just
wide of the keeper and into the next 2-0 to the Manor
after 3 minutes!

Danny Sabaroche
again showing he can hit the ball from distance, tries
a long range effort, the ball takes a small deflection,
the keeper stays rooted to the spot as he can only watch
the ball whiz past the post.

Manor skipper
Jamie Wallace fresh from his own hatrick midweek against
Hullbridge, tries his luck from just outside the area,
the ball only inches over the bar.

Concord attack
down the right handside, the Concord player going away
from goal was up ended and the referee not hesitating
points to the spot. Danny Heale steps up and places
the ball past the outstretched hands of the Manor keeper
Nick Mitchell making the score now 2-1.

The Manor determined
to get back the two goal advantage, play a great ball
over the top of the Concord defence and into the path
of Chrissy Hammond, running towards goal, Hammond with
only the keeper to beat decides to lay the ball to Sabaroche
who appeared to lose his footing in the box.

Sabaroche
again smashes the ball in from 20 yards, looked to be
going in but bounces off the back of a retreating defender.
Chrissy Hammond, sends in a long range
free kick which falls kindly to Devon Saunders, who
shoots, looks to be going in, and would have done had
it not been for some desperate defending, out for a
corner.

With a few minutes left on the clock
Concord get a corner, it takes two or three attempts
before the ball eventually rolls in the net. 2-2.

The second half and words must have
been said in the Concord changing room. Concord resurface
with a different attitude and pin back the Manor from
the kick off.

Danny Heale making way for Ex Manor
front Man Ricky Defreitas playing his first game for
his new Club.
Concord's first chance to take the
lead as they attack the Manor down the right, cutting
the ball in from wide just needing a simple touch in,
fortunately for the Manor the ball goes just wide of
the post.

Concord having much luck penetrating
the Manor down the middle, come close again, but the
ball scrambled away by Neil Barratt.

The Braves being made to work hard
by Concord, the Manor begin to look very jaded, but
continue to dig in and look to be holding out for a
draw.

Concord take their 4th corner of the
half, the ball driven in on to a Concord head and screams
past the Manor keeper, 3-2 to Concord.

With Chris Hammond off after taking
a nasty knock in the chest and the loss of Paul Smyth
in the first half the Manor starting to look very disjointed,
which seems to be allowing Concord to grow in confidence
as the minutes tick by.

Manor's Tony Marsh and Ray Coker needing
to track back and seem to prevent Concord having much
success down the Manor left.
Concord come close again this time
on the edge of the area, Manors Mark Clarey standing
strong as he brings the ball away to safety.

Concord take another corner, the ball
driven in, Manor's last man on the line heads the ball
what appears to be off the line, with no appeal at all
by Concord's players, the Linesman flags for a goal?
Difficult to judge however, the lineman's decision was
backed by the Referee!

The game finally finishing 4-2 to the
home side, a slightly sour finish caused by the 4th
goal decision, which both sets of fans agreed was a
little farcical to say the least.

Not all doom and Gloom, the Manors
great start showed fantastic dexterity combined with
the second half performance that proved the Manor men
have a tenacious streak which needs to be highlighted
and encouraged.
The game in fairness could have gone
either way, had the Manor taken their chances in the
first half, could have been 3 or 4 up and the game would
have been over, however, full credit to Concord for
showing real character and clawing back into the game
with a solid second half performance.
