The Manor started
the game with one thing on their mind "ATTACK".
Unfortunately The Braves are in the habit of either
trying to pass the ball into the back of the net or
hitting a 30 yarder into the top corner.
Junior Konadu
had about 4 shots on goal from outside the area in the
opening 20 minutes, but the Manor appeared to lack any
real conviction and were never going to trouble the
Sawbo keeper.
The Manor goal
came after 28 minutes after some good work by the very
impressive Manley Brown down the right flank, after
a great one on one save by the ever improving Steve
Lambert, he cut in and played a pass into the feet of
Jimal Sylla who beat his man and hit a screamer from
the edge of the box, which the Sawbridgeworth goalkeeper
could not get near to. Unfortunately this was the Manor's
only shot on target in the first half.
The Braves started
the second period very flat and allowed Sawbo to slowly
get back into the game. The Manor were nearly punished
in the 70th minute when the Sawbo Striker had a free
header inside the 6 yard box, which was headed straight
into the floor before being cleared by Jason Fox.
5 minutes later
came the equaliser, which came from a set piece out
on the right. The ball was floated into the area over
the advancing Lambert and onto the head of Sawbo's number
9, for a completely free header. The Manor nearly won
the game at the death when Konadu cut in from the right
and hit a blistering shot which the keeper done well
to turn over the bar. Final score 1-1.
