Manor Boss, Billy
Cove decided to go with a 3 5 2 formation on Tuesday
night against Sawbridgeworth Town in the Group stages
of the League Cup, after Sunday's disappointment on
Sunday Cove said he was very impressed with the performance
against Sawb'o despite losing 2-1.
Bradley Nelson started his first game up front and Danny
Dobson came into the midfield to add some much needed
bite and passion. From the first minute the Manor controlled
the game and it wasn't long before the Braves were raining
shots down on the sawbo goal.
Nelson came close on 3 occasions and a rasping shot
from Fabio Jesus was only inches wide. Sawbo needed
to dig in as they quickly realised
that they could not match the Manor with football. in
the 35th minute the referee awarded Sawbo a dubious
free kick and it was taken from 20 yards away from where
the offence took place, AGAIN like Sunday the Manor
were caught napping and the the ball was whipped in
for the forward to fire Sawbo into a 1-0 half time lead.
Second half and the Manor starting the brighter and
Bradley Nelson was causing the home defence all sorts
of problems, Junior and Fabio came to life the Braves
started to play flowing football.
The Manors efforts were rewarded in the 70th minute
when Nelson was brought down 30 yards from goal. Nelson
got up, brushed himself down and hit a screamer into
the bottom left hand corner of the net, leaving the
Sawb'o goalkeeper no chance. it seemed like only a matter
of time until the Manor got their winner, throwing everything
at the home side, then in the 80th minute the Manor
were caught on the counter attack, but Steve Lambert
saved well at the feet of their striker, however, Lambert,
instead of holding onto the ball to regain composer,
the Manor keeper tried throwing the ball out to Junior's
feet, but the ball was intercepted by a Sawbo midfielder
who hit a rasper which was heading into the top corner,
Lambert made a stunning save but the Sawbo forward reacted
quickest to stab the ball home for 2-1.
Cove handed youngster
Tom Quarry his first team debut out on the left wing
for the last 10 minutes who looked lively, and impressed
the Manor boss with his attacking style of football.
