Edson Cata wrote
his name into London Tigers folklore, scoring the only
goal of the match that sealed the Tigers first win in
the most famous football competition in the world...The
FA Cup!
Within the shadow
of Wembley Stadium's arch, Silver Jubilee Park was bathed
in sunshine for the Tigers debut in the Competition,
watched by a bumper crowd of 108 which boosted by many
'ground hoppers' who took advantage of the Sunday noon
kick off time.
Eton Manor of
the Essex Senior League provided stiff opposition, and
indeed had several good chances throughout the match
but they lacked the finesse in front of goal and as
the match progressed the Tigers settled into their rhythm
playing a stylish brand of football.
The winning goal
came early in the second period, Edson Cata getting
on the end of a good cross from the right, with a fine
finish that sent the home players and supporters into
raptures of delight.
The Tigers had
chances to double their lead but will be more then happy
at seeing off a side who will no doubt be at the right
end of the Essex Senior League come May.
Kingsbury London
Tigers reward for today's victory is a trip to Ryman
League Div 1 North side Concord Rangers.
Concord were
promoted as Essex Senior League Champions last season
so the Tigers face a stern test when they venture to
Canvey Island where Concord are based.
The match is
due to be played on Saturday 30th August.
