The Manor kick started their
Pre season friendly games with a magnificent display
against Canvey Island, which consisted of reserves,
trialists and a few first team members making their
way back to fitness. This new look Manor side looked
mouth watering at times as they bombarded the Canvey
defence.

The Manor nearly opened their account early when Peter
Kana Manor's Slovakian Striker was robbed 10 yards from
goal by a fierce challenge.
8 minutes into the game Chris Barratt stand-in skipper
sent a curving ball to the feet of Kana who struck his
shot well but was cleared off the goal line by a packed
defence.
Carl Prince Manor keeper showing his dominance by shrugging
off all challenges coming from high balls and feeding
the wingers with some quality throws, allowing the Braves
to counter attack quickly. The Manor now looking in
control and playing fluently as they spread the ball
around the park. Tony Marsh looking as fit as ever competes
for everything at the back.

Peter Kana bursts down the right hand-side and terrorises
the Canvey defence, planting a cross into the path of
Adie Skyers who forces the keeper to save low.

Jamie Wallace in determined mood and works so hard
in the centre of the park, creating chances and encourages
flowing play, paired well with Manor's young and super
fit Lee Smith, who has shown tremendous attitude since
joining the Manor back end of last season, both contributing
so much in Midfield.

Kana upended by a clumsy tackle which saw the Canvey
player come off worse, Manor free kick 40 yards out,
ball sent in high, Skipper Barratt heads towards goal
cleared for a corner, a great ball in saw the ball rebound
off the underside of the bar and looked to have crossed
the line, only to be waved on by the referee.

The Manor continue to make useful opposition look ordinary,
Wallace & Skyers look awesome and have a great understanding
of one another's play, continue to bombard the Canvey
defence with quality play.
Other new signings, Jason McCarthy & Ryan Baptiste
showed flashes of skill. McCarthy a nononse midfielder,
worked hard and gave no quarter, Baptiste, a 21 year
old athlete has got blistering pace which Canvey simply
could not deal with.

Paul Docherty Manor's most competitive player starts
the season as he finished last year, wanting and winning
every ball in midfield and charging at the oppositions
goal, had a hand in the opener for Manor in the 35th
minute which saw Peter Kana lob the Canvey keeper making
it 1-0 to the Braves.

Ray Coker Manor defender gave everything in defence
today, has worked so hard during preseason to gain his
fitness, his efforts paid off today as he dominated
in defence.
Docherty trying his luck from 30 yards forcing the
keeper to go to ground to collect, making a useful save.
Jamie Wallace who's scored over 20 goals last year
from midfield for Tring Athletic was next on the score
sheet, gathering the ball down the left shoots from
20 yards, the keeper fumbling his shot gave Wallace
enough time to follow up his shot to tuck it in the
back of the net 2-0 to the Manor.

The second half saw a few changes as Wallace, Skyers
both carrying minor injuries made way for Billy Powell
& Ahmed Elamir. Ray Coker also carrying a strain
made way for Lee Egan, also Carl Prince off for Steve
Richards
The second half starting well for Canvey who converted
a penalty making the score 2-1. The Manor taking a few
minutes to re compose themselves started slowly to regain
control of the game once more. Billy Powell showing
dogged determination upfront causing the Canvey defence
heart palpitations when nearly converted a chance from
30 yards out.

Ahmed Elamir looking a very useful sighing, bags of
energy and extremely resilient player, set up Manors
third goal for Peter Kana who hit his shot from a half
volley straight into the net 3-1 to the Braves.

Steve Reading Manor defender on for the hard working
Jason McCarthy and Manor's young Mattie McDonald on
for Ryan Bastiste. The Manor back in the driving seat
and forcing Canvey back into their own half. Chances
go begging for Docherty and Kana as the Canvey keeper
showing safe hands.
Manor slip up and give away another silly penalty,
this time Richards pulls off a brilliant save and proving
to be a very capable Keeper. The score finishing 3-1
to the Manor.

Many positives from today's game, The people involved
at the Manor rightly should feel extremely optimistic,
this Canvey side showed immense energy and resilience
and were more than capable of turning the result round
at any moment. The Manor were simply awesome today.
Fantastic team spirit building in the Manor camp at
the moment and with 8 players still missing from the
squad, people at the Manor have every reason to feel
optimistic for 2005-2006.
