FA Cup Extra Prelim Round

Eton Manor clearly rattled by the poor start in this FA Cup Prelim Round, try and work their way back into the game. Peter Kana back from injury looking to make an opening down the left hand side, supported by Adie Skyers.

Skipper Quinn clearly vocal for much of the game again tries to motivate the Manor back into contention.

Leverstock making the game look easy as they work the ball up field, Manor Keeper Carl Prince needing to be sharp as the Green attack continuously, Prince saving low from a 20 yard shot.

Peter Kana down the left hand side forces a throw-in near the corner flag, Lee Smith sends a long throw to Jamie Wallace, who neatly feeds the ball back to the feet of Lee Smith, who fires over the bar, early warning signs that the Manor weren't going to sit back and let the Greens control the game.

The Manor again charge into the Greens half, this time Manor Skipper Johnny Quinn down the right, making some room, shoots from 15 yards keeper Saves.

The Manor now dominating the game, nervy moments for Leverstock as Alan Griffiths makes his presence felt, battling through the centre of midfield along with Jamie Wallace, who's work rate is enormous. The ball lands at the feet of Peter Kana who weaves through a packed defence down the left, square a fantastic ball across goal and into the path of Adie Skyers, who is inches away from connecting with the ball!

Leverstock still working hard and still with an appetite for the game surge on the Manor goal, the ball drifting to the left, quickly switching play to the centre to the edge of the box shoots, Carl Prince makes a fabulous save as he tips the ball over the bar.

Steve Reading Manor defender using his height to take control of the high balls into the box, another vocal player who's work rate is never questioned make s big tackle to clear his lines.

Ray Coker challenges hard and gets the only yellow card of the game. The Manor push down the left, Kana getting a corner, the ball played short to Lee Canham who plays the ball back to Chris Barratt, fantastic ball over the top of the retreating defence into the path of Peter Kana down the left, he sweeps the ball across goal, keeper quick to react and takes the ball off the feet of Skyers who was ready to pounce.

Kana in electric form holding off 3 or 4 heavy challenges from Leverstock defence neatly touches the ball into the path of Quinn who sends the ball over the bar.

The Manor now causing major concern to Leverstock, finger nails were being chewed by the Greens fans as the Manor used up the dieing minutes in the first half to keep the pressure on the Greens goal.

Wallace takes a free kick 25 yards out, the ball hit fiercely swerved and looked to be a certain goal, the Greens keeper just getting his figure tips to the ball to push it out for a corner.

The Manor finish the first half with another attack on goal which sees Skyers shot go just over the bar.

The 2nd period, starts just like the first, with Leverstock taking the initiative and causing the Manor problems. Leverstock again put the ball in the net but the goal disallowed for an infringement on Carl Prince.

Skyers and Wallace both coming close from a corner but was desperately cleared by the Greens defence.

Best chance of the game fell to Leverstock when they cleverly beat the offside trap and found themselves in a on a one on one situation with Carl Prince, who did superbly and courageously well to block the shot with his body.

The Greens continued to pin the Manor back into their own half but couldn't deliver the final blow, Coker, Reading, Griffiths and Chris Barratt working really hard in the Manor defence.

75 mins and Lee Smith making way for Billy Powell, the Manor now with 3 strikers go all out to try and find the equaliser. The Manor dig deep to recapture the form that saw them dominate large parts of the first half. The Greens playing the offside trap, but looking really dangerous as the Manor try and exploit an opening.

Skyers coming close, the ball dropping kindly to his feet 10 yards from Goal, shoots the keeper drops low to make the save.

The Greens take a free kick from their own half, sending the ball long into the Manor box, the ball cleared only as far as an approaching Leverstock striker, who hits the ball well and forces Prince to Make an outstanding acrobatical save.

The Manor now attacking in packs, probing for any weakness in the Greens defence, Kana tormenting the Greens back four, finds some room for Jamie Wallace who strikes the ball well, just inches from the post.

As the minutes tick down the Manor becoming desperate to find the equaliser, Leverstock now pinned back into their own half as the Manor try and find a goal.

Leverstock using their experience to run down the clock much to the irritation of the Manor who try and gather the ball at every opportunity. The Greens take advantage and counter attack quickly again Prince on hand to make a spectacular save in the dieing minutes to keep Manor hopes alive.

Ray Coker at the half way line sends a delightful ball into the area, Alan Griffiths connects but the ball falls just over the bar.

Leverstock involved in some desperate defending, however, were relieved to hear the final whistle.

The Manor can hold their heads up high as they did themselves proud today. They worked as a unit and only for the sake of a few seconds lapse of concentration in the first half would earned a reply.

The Manor man of the Match goes to Carl Prince who showed Brave and intelligent Keeping today.
