The Manor played
hosts to our Southern League friends Waltham Forest
tonight at Tilbury, in the last of four Pre-Season Friendly
Games.

The Manor still
without key experienced players, looked solid in the
opening minutes of the game and only just managing to
tame a very talented, young Forest team.

Waltham Forest
looked lively and full of running as their talented
youngsters took the game to the Braves on many occasions,
only to find The Manor rear guard alert and wide awake,
namely, Marsh, Reading, Coker and young Jason McCarthy
who stepped in for the injured Chris Barratt proved
in his character to be a winner, dug deep and worked
tremendously hard.

The Manor midfield
is looking incredibly strong this season, with Quinny,
Docherty, Wallace and young talent Lee Smith, all more
than capable of finding the net and bag plenty of goals
between them this season.

Billy Powell
and Chris Hammond the Manor strikers have a great combination
of speed and strength. Manor's goal coming from Chris
Hammond from 25 yards, smashing the post before hitting
the net, he proves again, that even half fit, Hammond
has a cracking shot that can beat even the best of keepers.

The whole game
played in terrific spirit, both team giving no quarter
as challenges were both hard and fair. The referee not
having to much difficulty keeping the game flowing.

Forest pressured
the Manor the last 10 minutes of the game and could
have easily scored a hatful had it not been for Manor's
keeper Carl Prince Making a spectacular save to push
the ball over the net.

Some of the resilience
within the Manor defence should be applauded, bodies
being thrown in the path of shots proving that this
Manor side is becoming a bunch of winners that don't
seem to know the meaning of the word "give up"
.

Its really pleasing
to see a Manor team playing great football with pride,
passion and working as a team.

The Manor management
will be keen to get the season underway, where they
will hopefully see the fruits of their labour translated
in to points in the league.

This was the
last in four Pre-season friendly' games arranged. The
Manor Board would like to sincerely thank the following
Clubs and their Management:- Canvey Island
- London Colney - Sporting
Bengal and Waltham Forest
for supplying teams for our Pre-season build up. We
have enjoyed immensely your Company/hospitality and
we truly wish you well within your respective Leagues
for the forthcoming season.
