| The
Manor with a few slight changes to their line up from
Sundays fixture looked really positive. The early stages
of the game the Manor took the game to March Town.

8th minute and March Towns first attack was broken
down quickly by a strong challenge from the Manor Skipper
Nicky Mitchell.
10th minute and The Town look threatening with Chris
Hutchcraft and Ashley Brand combining well and causing
the Manor back four major problems.
12th Minute and Connolly picking up where he left off
on Sunday attacking with skill and speed down the Towns
right hand side, however, The Town defending well.

13th minute and the Manor keeping the pressure on the
Towns defence with Delroy Forde back from a 3 week layoff
causing March Town problems.
15th minute and The Town breakaway down the Manor right,
Pugh tackling hard and sending the ball out for a corner.
The Corner taken quickly allowing Lee Day to find some
room, great shot by the skipper Day leaving Prince no
chance 1-0 to the Town.
19th Minute and the Manor attack still shell shocked
from the Towns Goal. Ball from Smith to Forde laid wide
for Lee Whitelock who shoots well wide of the post.
21st minute and Armstrong sends a fabulous ball into
the danger area to Forde who strikes the ball well which
thunders just over the bar .

Both sides now battling in midfield and cancelling
eachother out.
41st Minute and March Town come close when Prince clears
his line and sends the ball to his left, Andy Wayte
intercepts the clearance and races towards goal only
to hit the ball wide of the post.
42nd minute Manor free kick 30 yards out, hit well
by Pugh causing a great save from the Town Keeper Chris
Anker.
44th minute and The Town have the best chance of the
game when a superb ball catches the Manor back four
off guard, whilst the Manor were appealing for offside
Ashley Brand running onto the through ball and found
himself on a one on one with Carl Prince who spread
himself wide, Brand scuffing the shot wide.
The second half commenced with the temperature dropping
along with the action. Again both teams battling in
midfield causing a stalemate situation.
49th minute Chris Anker called to action again from
another quality free kick from Pugh.
61st Minute a throw in from Armstrong to Docherty back
to Armstrong who sent a cracking ball over to Chris
Barrett who shot just over the bar from 25 yards.
68th minute and another Manor free kick this time from
Armstrong who forced Anker to have to tip it over the
bar. The Manor supporters now with their hearts in their
mouth knew a moment of quality would be needed to break
down the resolute Town defence and it happened in the
79th minute when the ball was sent high in the danger
area, March Town scrambled the ball away only as far
as Delroy Forde who struck the ball low and hard into
the bottom right hand corner leaving Anker no chance,
1-1.
The minutes ticked away and both teams seemed content
to take the game into extra time.
First period of extra time the Manor looking the more
threatening.
98th Minute and the Manor throw caution to the wind
and attacked in numbers. Pugh sending a great ball over
to Whitelock who was running towards the goal dropped
his shoulder and fired a great shot Goal only to be
disallowed for offside?
The second period of extra time saw tense moments and
hard tackles from tired legs. The game remained even
and both teams to be commended for their efforts and
the two sides could not be separated. The game finally
ended 1-1. The game had to be decided tonight by a penalty
shoot out and the winners would meet Woodford United
in the second round.

The Manor took the first penalty and scored their first
4, Prince saving one and Anker saving one. The Manor's
6th Penalty was scored by Bradley Mills and it all hinged
on the March Town spot kick, Prince making himself larger
then life and up stepped a young Town player who hit
the ball wide of the post. The celebrations started
with the Manor coming out on top 5-4 on penalty's.
Over the two legs and 240 minutes of Football both
sides playing some creative and great football. The
teams were evenly matched which was proved by the scoreline
over both games. March Town have some fabulous young
talent and is easy to see why they have only been beat
once in the league this season and look comfortable
at top of their league.
The Manor now through to the 2nd round of the Vase
and can look forward to playing Woodford United.
The staff and Management of Eton Manor FC would like

are a credit to their League. The hospitality shown
to all travelling fans and Staff was first class and
they showed great sportsmanship before and after the
game.
