The Manor appeared to have an
appetite for the game showing early signs that they
meant business, The Manor after a scrappy first 5 minutes
were the first to settle as they took the game to Brentwood.
Smith playing his normal right wing back position looked
sharp as he ran at the Brentwood defence, however always
seemingly taking on one Brentwood defender too many
and not able to deliver a quality ball into the danger
area consistently enough!

The Manor continued to dominate
the game and after 8 minutes saw Felice charge through
two defenders and deliver a fabulous ball to the waiting
Manor Striker Delroy Forde who before the game had scored
in 8 of his last 9 games, Forde collecting the ball
just in the Brentwood area let fly a looping shot only
to be well spotted by the Brentwood Keeper Phil Turner.

The Manor Skipper Johnny Quinn
back from holiday lead my example whilst encouraging
the Manor to continue their charge on the Brentwood
goal. After 16 minutes of play The Manor were getting
stronger and could sense a goal, through some good build
up play, the Manor back four giving the ball to Jason
Felice down the left who crossed a great ball into the
Brentwood penalty area straight into the path of Forde
having lined up his shot put it past the outreached
hands of Turner to make it 1-0 to the Braves.

The Manor still not content
immediately went in search of a second, Whitelock to
Smith again running down the right turned two defenders
and played the ball back to New Boy Sam Williams, Sam
noticing that Quinny had made some space laid the ball
quickly to his left and Quinny instinctively feeding
a great ball to Felice who missed timed his shot over
the bar! The Manor looking confident and in control
went close again as Forde shot just wide of the post.
It was Brentwood's Turn to attack with James Grandison
and Ian Kentish linking up well to put a through ball
to Gavin Penny only to be foiled by the Manor Keeper
Carl Prince.
The last attack of the first
half saw Grant Smith get the ball from inside the Manor
half shrugging off two challengers only to knock the
ball just wide of the Brentwood post.

The second half Brentwood came at the Manor with more
aggression, the Manor back four looking soiled as ever
continued to frustrate the Brentwood strikers. Tony
Marsh, Nicky Mitchell, Paul Docherty and debutant Sam
Williams all playing their part to hold off anything
Brentwood could throw at them. After 62 minutes the
rain came down which seemed to favour the Manor, gaining
control of the game once more and tearing into the Brentwood
defence, Morris collecting a fabulous ball from Nicky
Mitchell went down the left sending the ball into the
path of Felice who nodded it just over the bar. 63 minutes
gone and a change from the Manor bench saw Felice replaced
with another Debutant Jermain Dominique.

The Manor now with the bit between their teeth attacked
this time Sam Williams sending a great ball over to
Smith who laid an early ball to Forde just catching
the Manor Striker offside. 74th minutes and Paul Docherty
making way for Glenn Connolly, and in the 76th saw Sammy
Marks on for Jamie Morris, 79th minute Manor corner
taken by Johnny Quinn saw Forde nod just over the bar.
86th minute Prince collecting the ball from another
foiled Brentwood attacked used the wind to send a long
ball down the right into the path of Dominique down
the right taking the ball forward and without looking
up sent a ferocious ball across the Brentwood goal mouth
to be met with the head of Forde cracking the bar at
great speed. In injury time saw Bentwood against the
run of play send the ball to the Manor left and the
Brentwood No.8 Tony Pizzey leveled the score to make
it 1-1.

Full credit to Brentwood Town who stuck it out through
some major pressure from the Manor kept the Braves at
bay and kept the Manor score line down to just one goal.
