This Cup game is the second
played in 6 days. The Manor this time face VCD Athletic
of the Kent Premier League in the London Senior Cup
second Round, the winners play either Ruislip Manor
or Hoddesdon Town.

The game exploded in the 2nd minute when Bradley Mills
attacked down the left hand side beating two VCD Players
and crossing a procession pass across goal where Sammy
Marks was waiting to volley the shot into the goal.
0-1 to the Manor.
6 minutes and Lesley Pugh charging down the left sent
a great ball to Mills who mistimed his run and the ball
run out of play.

10 minutes and its all Manor as they pressure the VCD
Defence a high ball into the area to Glenn Connolly
brings the ball under control and with his back towards
goal passes a delicate ball into the path of Mills who
shoots from 25 yards just wide of the post.
The next 15 minutes both teams wasting opportunities
as they scrabbled for possession in midfield.
27 minutes Manor attack this time Paul Docherty making
his presence felt by surging through the middle noticing
Connolly making a run chipped the VCD defence leaving
Connolly running towards goal and shoots into the arms
of Marc Brown the VCD keeper.

VCD now starting to turn the heat on the Manor, Lindsey
Thomas VCD striker had a great opportunity in the 29th
minute when he was put through by their Skipper Danny
Penny, Lindsey Thomas one on one with Carl Prince Manor
Keeper running towards him put the ball over the bar!
34 minutes and VCD attack again this time John Main
putting the ball wide of the post. 35 minutes and some
glorious Football by the VCD Skipper Danny Penny who
was causing the Manor defence heart palpations with
his pin point passing ability. VCD now looking the better
of the two sides, surged on the Manor but just couldn't
find the net.

Second half on this wet, cold Tuesday night saw VCD
pick up where they left the first half with plenty of
running, commitment and Penny playing some great Football
without the finishing touch!
54 minutes and Docherty breaking through on his now
trademark runs through the middle decides to have a
crack himself just sending it over the bar. VCD being
frustrated by some poor refereeing and The Manor back
four of Armstrong, Marsh, Gary Scales and Pugh who giving
100%.
61 minutes gone and The Manor's Jason Hanniff back
form a lengthy break nearly getting his opportunity
to score when he received a fabulous ball from Davy
Armstrong only to hit the side netting.

68 minutes and Lindsey Thomas working his socks off
for VCD made an intelligent run forward and slotted
a great ball across the Manor goal leaving Prince stranded,
into the path of Mark Greatorex with an open goal at
his mercy planted the ball wide of the post. From this
moment you could tell this was not going to be VCD's
night! 74 minutes and another chance went begging with
a massive scramble in the Manor area who where unable
to clear the ball as VCD attacked in numbers and after
several stabs at goal with prince having to make the
same amount of saves was eventually cleared by Mr 100%
himself Tony Marsh who seemed to be in no mood for nonsense!
85th Minute and against the run of play Paul Docherty
collecting the ball from within his own half surged
forward challenged by many defenders but still managed
to keep the ball at his feet, 30 yards from goal looked
up and saw Mills making a great run into the Danger
area, gently caressed the ball into the path of Mills
who's finishing was class made it 0-2 to the Manor.
Sammy Marks playing some of his best football for the
Manor tonight chasing every ball and gave the Manor
the slight edge needed to get the result.
The Manor finishing the better of the two sides pressed
hard on the luckless VCD who towards the end had one
player and their Manager sent off for unsporting behaviour!
Great win for the Braves, much to be said for the skills
of VCD who looked a good outfit but just lacked the
finishing touch.
A big thank you to VCD for their kind hospitality on
the night.
Special mention to Gary Scales back form a long break
looked as if he had never been away played some great
football and was a brick-wall in defence plus Ashley
Pugh who stuck to his task all evening and caused VCD
major problems down the left.
