The Manor played their second
from last pre-Season friendly against London Colney
FC in preparation for the start of the Essex Senior
Leauge which kicks off against Concord on Saturday 14th
August 2004.

The Manor were tested early
in the game by some nice one touch play by the home
side. Both teams playing in 90+ degree heat and the
referee sensibly allowing the players to take regular
water breaks ensured the players were not exhausted
from the overwhelming afternoon sunshine.
The Manor playing in their new
yellow & Black away kit gained control of the game
by playing the simple ball which made the home team
work hard in the blistering heat. Some great saves from
Steve Richards the Manor keeper kept the scores level
for the first 20 minutes. The evergreen Asa Pamplin
Manor striker looking fit and causing the Colney problems
by holding the ball up allowing the Manor midfield to
serge forward. The first goal went to the Manor with
some great play from midfielder Lee Whitelock one of
three returning hero's of the England LD winning Team
who play for Eton Manor, Whitelock dominating the early
play from midfield sent a ball wide to Manor new boy
Scott Ballard who found some room 25 yards from goal,
noticing the Colney keeper off his line looped a high
ball over the keeper and into the net, 1-0 up for the
Manor. London Colney applied more pressure on the Manor
goal only to be cut off by a strong Manor back four.

The second half Manor had far more possession and against
the run of play and 10 minutes into the half London
Colney took their chance with a cracking shot just outside
the Manor area 1-1. Not apparently fazed by the goal
the Manor stepping up a gear launched the ball forward
by Chris Barrett, falling to the feet of George Durrant
on loan from Tilbury looped a superb ball to the waiting
head of Asa Pamplin who gently nooded the ball home
2-1 to the Manor. Still not content the Manor applied
more pressure on Colney, with Grant Smith in fine form
down the left dazzled the Colney defence and setup Manors
third Goal. The ball at the feet of Smith down the left
with some great one touch with Glen Connolly and Delroy
Forde who crossed the ball to the Waiting 17 year old
Steve Whitelock 3-1 up. London Colney hitting back only
to find The Manor Keeper Richards in fine form. The
Manor 4th goal got the loudest cheer with some brilliant
build up play which saw 9 passes before Sammy Marks
knocking in a superb shot.
Considering the heat the Manor can take much away from
the game. Special mentions to Gary Scales (skipper),
Johnny Quinn, Davy Armstrong, Jay Felice and young Georgie
Fulbrook for some great work in the middle of the pitch.
Manor MOM : Davy Armstrong determined
performance.
The Manor's last Pre-Season friendly is away against
